ACCELERATED READER
Second Graders are always eager to begin using the Accelerated Reader Program. With this program, students read selected books within their reading level and then after reading the book at least two times, they take a computer generated comprehension test. Students are encouraged to reach goal to motivate them to continue reading. Students are instructed that knowing their book well before taking the test is important to maintain an 85% comprehension average. Those that succeed at given goals and guidelines, will see their reading improve and with that reading levels are adjusted in order to adequately challenge each student. The overall goal of this program is to engage children in good literature that develops an avid reader and a lifelong love of reading.
